We invite candidates working in the areas of Astrophysics and Cosmology, with radio astronomy instrumentation experience, to apply for this position in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. Astronomy is a strategic focus area at UKZN as the University seeks to position itself as an international centre of research in this field. The School offers a vibrant educational and research environment in Astronomy and has many well established national and international collaborative research links. HIRAX is a flagship international telescope project at UKZN, which is entering a key phase of instrumentation deployment and commissioning, and the School wishes to appoint a candidate who will actively contribute to the HIRAX instrumentation research and commissioning programme, participate in research activities, and supervise postgraduate students in this area. The incumbent may be required to teach, perform administration duties and participate in astronomy outreach activities.
Minimum requirements
· A relevant PhD degree
· Strong research record in astronomy as evidenced by publications in quality journals and citations.
· A minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience in radio astronomy instrumentation
