Job description
- The School of Health Sciences wishes to appoint an Academic who will contribute actively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, learning, research and community engagement.
- Successful candidate will be required to perform some administrative work, such as, but not limited to, acting as module(s) coordinator.
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (for both posts)
- All applicants must have an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Physiotherapist
- Applicants must have a relevant PhD degree in Physiotherapy.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Valid code 08 driver’s license
- Demonstrated competence in postgraduate supervision and a track record of publications.
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience and curriculum development experience in a relevant field (musculoskeletal rehabilitation and community practice) at the tertiary level;
- Evidence of current and sustained research publication of independent research in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level;
- A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Master's and PhD levels, appropriate for the level;
- Evidence of sustained and successful award of external research grants AND
- Evidence of national/or international recognition in a research area within the discipline.
For appointment at Senior lecturer level:
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field (musculoskeletal rehabilitation and community practice) at a tertiary level;
- Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals (A minimum of five publications in peer-reviewed SAPSE-accredited journals);
- A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Master's and/or PhD levels, appropriate for the level AND
- Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team.
