The Hydrogen Intensity and Real-time Analysis eXperiment (HIRAX) project with Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC) is building a telescope array of up to 1024-elements that will create high-impact research and training in astrophysics and cosmology. The HIRAX project is seeking a Project Manager to conduct the daily operations, and manage construction and design requirements of UKZN’s HIRAX telescope under direction of the HIRAX Principal Investigator. The successful candidate will facilitate the procurement of specialised science equipment and construction material, monitor and control to the delivery of sub-systems as per project timelines, steer the creation of non-disclosure agreements, manage project IP, and coordinate HIRAX project activities.
Minimum requirements
- Three (3) year relevant degree
- Four (4) years relevant work experience coordinating projects in an academic or research environment
- Experience working directly with engineers to establish project requirements
- Experience with procurement and large tenders (>R20M)
