Introduction
The incumbent will take primary responsibility for the entire life cycle of the Library’s electronic resources including acquisitions, access, administration, support and evaluation for the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Library Services
Job description

  • Management and administration of Library’s electronic resources;
  • Co-ordination of activities related to access to electronic resources;
  • Evaluation and negotiation of terms and conditions of electronic resources license agreements;
  • Relationship building and liaison with service providers and other libraries;
  • General administrative tasks and professional development. 

Minimum requirements

  • Four (4) year relevant professional qualification in librarianship (e.g. Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Five (5) years relevant post-qualificationexperience (e.g. in an academic library or in the scholarly publishing industry).
  • Knowledge of library systems involved in the access and preservation of electronic resources.
  • Conceptual and practical knowledge of electronic resource management software, link resolver and bibliographic databases.
  • Knowledge of the legal and licensing framework.
  • Proficiency in MSOffice or similar suite of programmes.
