This position in Agricultural/Bioresources Engineering will preferably be filled by an incumbent with specialist expertise and experience in one or more of the following fields: Agricultural Machinery, Power and Traction, and Agricultural Mechanisation. The incumbent will be required to teach the Power and Traction for Agriculture Machine, Engineering Design and Agricultural Mechanisation modules, secure funding to develop independent research programs, supervise postgraduate research, undertake administrative duties, participate actively in the local and international Agricultural Engineering community, and contribute to the profession.

The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Cluster Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering and Land Surveying.
Minimum requirements
- A PhD in Agricultural Engineering or closely related engineering discipline related to the abovementioned areas of speciality
- Evidence of excellent teaching experience and leadership in curriculum development in a relevant field at the tertiary level
- Excellent and sustained publication of independent research in quality scientific journals appropriate for the level
- Excellent and sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at the Master and PhD levels appropriate for the level
- Excellent and sustained track record of successful attraction of external research grants
- Evidence of strong and sustained academic leadership within the Department / School/ College/ University, which includes mentorship and coaching
- Evidence of national and international recognition in a research area within the discipline
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or eligible for such registration
- A PhD in Agricultural Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline related to the abovementioned areas of speciality
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience and curriculum development experience in a relevant field at the tertiary level
- Evidence of current and sustained publication of independent research in quality scientific journals appropriate for the level
- A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at the Master's and PhD levels appropriate for the level.
- Evidence of sustained and successful attraction of external research grants
- Evidence of national and/or international recognition in a research area within the discipline
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or eligible for such registration
- A PhD in Agricultural Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline related to the abovementioned areas of speciality OR
- A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline and Professional Registration with ECSA
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field at the tertiary level
- Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals appropriate for the level
- A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD level appropriate for the level
- Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the ECSA, or eligible for such registration
- A PhD degree in Agricultural Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline related to the abovementioned areas of speciality OR
- A Master relevant to one of the aforementioned areas with evidence of submission of PhD for examination
- Current research activity as evidenced by a publication in quality scientific journals
- Experience in teaching in a relevant field at tertiary institutions
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the ECSA, or eligible for such registration
- Evidence of presentations, at national or international conference
