Introduction
The position deputises for the Executive Director of Human Resources in the Executive Director’s absence and on additional specific Human Resources' work or projects allocated to the incumbent of this post. The Incumbent is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the Human Resources strategic plan and to oversee Human Resources operations and delivery of efficient Human Resources service which supports the performance culture across the University. Proactively works with the various sectors of the institution to provide Human Resources solutions that will ensure the delivery of the institution’s strategic objectives by developing, advising and aligning people strategic interventions and policies to improve staff experience and drive a high-performance culture. In addition, the position is responsible for the strategic management, coordination and operational management of the College and Professional Services Human Resources operations and service function in relation to the end-to-end Human Resources employee life cycle processes.
Job description

  • Deputise for the ED:HR in the ED’s absence or on specific HR work or projects;
  • Provide direction and leadership on end-to-end oversight to the College or Professional Services HR teams;
  • Ensure that all HR programs, procedures, approaches is adopted and advice provided to the University;
  • Leadership and staff of College/Professional Serv. HR teams remain aligned and further the achievement of university strategic objectives and values;
  • Collaborate, guide, and champion the development of fit for purpose HR strategies, policies, and approaches, to attract, develop, and retain talent in the University;
  • Strategic partner to the University leadership to ensure translation of business objectives to human resource strategies.

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant Master’s degree (NQF 9) i.e. Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology
  • Ten (10) years relevant work experience in Human Resources of which (5) five years must be at a senior management level 
  • Exposure to and in-depth knowledge and experience with: 
    • relevant legislation and regulatory and reporting requirements; and 
    • strategic and operational management in the key functions
