Job description
The incumbent will be required to promote positive mental health and to facilitate the holistic development, and emotional well-being of the College of Health Sciences students, through the provision of assessment, individual and group counselling/therapy, wellness programmes, skills development, and referral services. The post is based at the respective Hospital at the Decentralized Clinical Training Platforms, viz, Port Shepstone.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Psychology (Counselling, Clinical, Educational or Industrial) or Master’s degree in Social Work (with specialisation in Clinical Social Work)
- Current professional registration as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA or SACSSP.
- Two (2) years of post-registration, relevant experience as an independent practitioner.
- Knowledge of student learning, and development theories
- Must have the flexibility to offer the contracted hours of service in either the working day, afternoons, evenings or weekends.
- Services must be offered face to face at the respective DCTP site.
- Sessional Student Counsellors must have time available to offer services for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
