Job description
The Science and Engineering Access programme offers access to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who were unsuccessful at entering the University via the normal selection process. Incumbents will be required to teach Augmented Modules to Science and/or Engineering Access students at the Firstyear level and take lectures, tutorials and practicals, provide academic support for first-year access students, set and mark tests, coordinate demonstrators and attend appropriate delegated administrative duties such as but not limited to, marks checking, test invigilation. Remuneration will be made from the Foundation Provisioning Grant for Access Programmes until funding is available from the external funding agency.
The incumbent will report to the Head of Centre for Academic Success in Science and Engineering (CASSE).
Minimum requirements
- A Master’s degree in the relevant subject area
• One-year relevant teaching experience in a tertiary institution
• One-year experience teaching students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the access programme
