The incumbent will provide support to Principal Researcher(s) that are involved with the research in the field of geophysical and hydrographic surveys, which includes set-up, operation, and maintenance of various geophysical and hydrographic equipment needed for the research; conducting technical tours; collect, clean, manipulate and interpret geophysical and hydrographic data using various software in the field of geophysical and hydrographic research; writing of scientific or technical reports; writing papers in peer reviewed journals and making presentations at conferences.
The research assistant will be required to work inside of UKZN and in areas where the research is being conducted. The incumbent is expected to enrol for MSc within the research group and will report to Prof Andrew Green
Minimum requirements
· Grade 12/N3 and relevant BSc Honours Degree in hydrography/land surveying, marine geology or related disciplines
· 4 years relevant experience in the field of hydrography/land surveying, marine geology or related disciplines
