Introduction
The University Capacity Development Office seeks to appoint a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer who will be responsible for designing and implementing M&E activities for the UCDP. The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in preparing quarterly and annual reports, monitoring project activities, performing internal evaluations, and maintaining the Management Information System (MIS) for the project.
Job description

The M&E Officer will develop and strengthen M&E procedures, monitor project activities to ensure progress towards outputs and outcomes and standardise data collection instruments and methodologies. S/He will coordinate data collection, including surveys and site visits, and analyse the data to assess project performance and identify gaps. Additionally, the officer will update the MIS with project progress reports, produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and ensure reporting templates meet M&E requirements. The role involves maintaining regular contact with relevant colleges and divisions, responding effectively to stakeholder queries, and adhering to the Ministerial Statement on UCDP implementation. The officer will also ensure that all activities align with the UKZN Master Plan and DHET guidelines, and perform other duties as required.

Minimum requirements

  • Advanced Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in M&E within development projects, with at least two (2) years in project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Access) and email.
  • Experience with research projects.
  • Proven ICT skills, especially in the use of MIS/database software.
  • Expertise in data collection, analysis, and report production using statistical software.
