Introduction
The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance offers the Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting qualifications and seeks to appoint suitably qualified applicants on a permanent basis.
Job description

  • The incumbent will contribute actively to the training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Auditing, Financial Accounting; Managerial Accounting & Finance and Taxation, and to build the knowledge base of the disciplines through teaching, research, academic leadership and mentoring and community engagement
  • Administration of certain teaching activities within the discipline is also required
  • Appointed candidates may be required to teach across multiple disciplines at the undergraduate level

Minimum requirements

Associate Professor:

  • A relevant PhD degree
  • At least six (6) years working and relevant experience in lecturing, research and/or industry
  • A current and sustained  peer-reviewed research publication record
  • Track record of successful supervision of Masters and/ or PhD students
  • Evidence of attracting external research funds
  • Evidence of academic leadership,  links with external stakeholders, and/or registration with a professional body

Senior Lecturer:

  • Masters degree in the discipline plus CA(SA) designation
  • At least three (3) years working experience in lecturing, research and/or industry in the relevant discipline
  • Evidence of emerging research publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students
  • Evidence of participation as a team member in a grant or submission of grant application
  • Evidence of University service, and involvement in community engagement programmes

Lecturer:

  • Registration with an Accounting professional body as CA(SA)
  • Demonstratable ability to teach at a tertiary level
