Job description
The School of Agriculture, Earth, and Environmental Sciences (SAEES) has an active group of academic staff contributing to research and teaching in the fields of Geographic Information Sciences (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), physical, and human geography, and seeks an individual who will help in strengthening the new GIS and RS programme. The incumbent will be tasked with teaching in GIS, Remote Sensing, and human geography fields. The incumbent will be required to teach both undergraduate and post-graduate courses at all levels using curricula in keeping with modern developments in that field. In addition to teaching, s/he will be expected to develop and maintain an active research programme that will involve the supervision of postgraduate students and attract external funding. S/he will also be expected to be involved in the School administration and outreach activities.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Geography
Minimum requirements
· A PhD degree in Geography or related discipline OR a Master’s degree in Geography or related discipline, with evidence of submission of PhD for examination
· Experience in teaching in a relevant field at tertiary institution
· Evidence of presentations, at national or international conferences
· Current research activity as evidenced by a publication in quality scientific journals
