Job description

  • The University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the campus-based Head of the Maintenance Unit.
  • This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, Building and Carpentry, Plumbing, and Civils sections within the Maintenance Department.
  • The successful candidate will lead the implementation of comprehensive maintenance plans, ensure alignment with institutional policies and procedures, and manage daily operations within strict budgetary parameters.
  • A key focus of the role is the efficient management of energy and fuel consumption, along with ensuring full compliance with environmental regulations.

Minimum requirements

  • Degree / Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  •  Trade Test Certificate in Electrical / Mechanical/ Refrigeration
  • Valid South African Drivers License
  • 10 years’ experience, 5 years of which must be at a managerial level carrying out facilities maintenance
Advantages

  • OHSA qualification
