Job description

  • The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching & Learning is shaping the future of education through the Digital Curriculum Transformation Project, an integral part of the University Capacity Development Programme.
  • The Office is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and seasoned professional to step into the role of Digital Content Editor.
  • As a key contributor to this transformative initiative, the ideal candidate must be a self-starter, possessing a high level of initiative and expertise in the digital content production and editing domain.
  • This cuts across different functions, from crafting engaging videos to creating compelling podcasts and informative infographics for teaching and learning.
  • The successful candidate will play an essential role in driving innovation in educational content delivery, ensuring that our digital curriculum remains at the forefront of pedagogical advancements.
  • The Digital Content Editor will be tasked with managing multiple projects simultaneously, necessitating efficient time management and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities, thrive under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
  • The successful candidate must embody a strong work ethic characterised by courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
  • This role requires effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including Academics, Instructional Designers, and Technology-Enhanced Learning experts. 

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as Video Technology, Media, Production or Visual Arts.
  • 3 years production experience with proficiency in video editing, design, and camera work.
  • Proven ability to creatively execute production and postproduction tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing customised creative presentations.
  • Proficiency in specialized software applications such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop and Canva.
Advantages 
  • Ability to do live recordings and sound engineering, skills in IT and specialised software.
  • Good photographic skills.
  • Proficiency in Technology-Enhanced learning applications such as Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Short-listed candidates may be required to undertake a skills test.
