Job description
- This appointment will be a 20% Fractional appointment for Three Years, with the staff member retaining their current appointment at their home institution but being jointly appointed by UKZN.
- The staff member will be expected to provide leadership in the design and development of the Educational Psychology curriculum for the Masters in Educational Psychology programme.
- The incumbent will also be requested to facilitate seminars, engage in case supervision, as well as supervise masters and doctoral students.
- The staff member will be expected to travel to and work at UKZN during the period of appointment, as needed or in discussion with the Academic Leader/Dean.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Psychology.
Minimum requirements
Senior Lecturer:
- PhD degree in Psychology or a related field.
- A professional Masters degree in Educational Psychology.
- Three (3) years of working experience in either Teaching, Lecturing, Research, or Industry (in the relevant field or discipline).
- Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level.
- A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD level as appropriate for the level.
- Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team.
- Evidence of registration with the Health Professions Council as an Educational Psychologist, with 3 years’ experience post-registration.
Lecturer:
- A PhD degree in the relevant discipline OR Master’s degree in the relevant discipline, with evidence of submission of PhD for examination.
- A professional Masters degree in Educational Psychology.
- Experience in teaching and/or tutoring in a relevant field at tertiary level.
- Evidence of presentations at national or international conferences.
- Current research activity as evidenced by publication(s) in quality scientific journals.
- Evidence of registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Educational Psychologist, with at least 1-2 years’ experience post-registration.
