Job description

  • The School of Commerce seeks to appoint suitably qualified applicants to the permanent staff who will contribute actively to the training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Economics and to build the knowledge base of the discipline through teaching, research, academic leadership and mentoring and community engagement.
  • Administration of certain teaching activities within the discipline is also required.
  • Specialized research and teaching experience in any areas of economics will be considered, particularly Advanced Microeconomics, Development Economics, Maritime Economics, Advanced Macroeconomics, and/or Advanced Econometrics in addition to the minimum requirements stated below.

Minimum requirements

  • A relevant PhD degree
  • At least three (3) years working experience in lecturing, research and/or industry in the relevant discipline
  • Evidence of emerging research publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students
  • Evidence of participation as a team member in a grant or submission of grant application
  • Evidence of University service and involvement in community engagement programmes

All candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills.

Communication will be limited to shortlisted candidates, who will be required to do a presentation at the interview.
