The School seeks a strategic-thinking, self-motivated and innovative individual committed to quality teaching, research and community engagement in Agricultural Extension. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team of academic staff in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Management (AERRM). The incumbent should have expertise and practical field experience in: facilitating learning to build farmer capacity, in leveraging varying agricultural/farming systems on multiple scales to improve rural livelihoods and economies, expertise and experience in applying trans-disciplinary research in the discipline and related fields. S/he will be expected to lead Agricultural Extension by providing vision, academic leadership and research excellence. Responsibilities will include curriculum development: teaching and supervising students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, furthering the development of a dynamic Agricultural Extension research programme at the postgraduate level, attracting research funding, contributing to community engagement activities, and performing academic administrative duties.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Value Adding
Minimum requirements
· A PhD in Agricultural Extension
· Evidence of appropriate teaching experience and curriculum development experience in a relevant field at tertiary level.
· Evidence of current and sustained publication of independent research in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level.
· A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level, appropriate for the level.
· Evidence of sustained and successful attraction of external research grants.
· Evidence of national and/or international recognition in a research area within the discipline.
