Job description

  • The University invites applications for a key position within the Maintenance Department, responsible for coordinating all outsourced maintenance projects in the Building and Carpentry Section.
  • The successful candidate will provide essential administrative and financial support to the Maintenance Manager and serve as the primary liaison between clients and contractors.
  • This role includes offering consultative and advisory services on all Building and Carpentry-related matters, including cost estimation, contract management, project oversight, and risk assessment relating to technical completion.
  • The incumbent is expected to promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and leadership in all aspects of their work.

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant National Diploma
  • Trade test in building or carpentry
  • Valid South African driver’s license
  • 5 years post-qualification experience in building and carpentry, of which 2 years should be at a Supervisory/Management level
  • Knowledge of building, woodwork, machinery and construction related
  • Knowledge of OHASA
  • Knowledge of Project management
Advantages
  • Previous experience at an Educational Institution similar to UKZN.
