1. Service delivery to clients
Providing on-site information technology support, problem resolution and consulting services mainly to University student and academic staff, in order achieve measurable and demonstrable success in relation to teaching & learning activities within student labs through a rigorous process of continuous improvement.
2. Communications / Consultancy:
Provide consultsation with Academic Staff to determine both their hardware and software teaching requirements. Installs, tests, researches and modify software to meet the academics requirements. Before deployment, the latest software is imaged onto our Imaging Servers and thereafter rolled out in the necessary student labs, provided that the necessary software licensing requirements have been met and authenticated.
3. 4Research & Development:
Provide rapid spread of information and communication technologies is changing the way economic and social development occurs in most countries. New IT-related tools can make institutions and markets more productive, enhancing skills and learning and improving governance at all levels. It is therefore important that the Lab consultant performs constant research to keep abreast of the latest technologies and software upgrades in order for UKZN to offer facilities that are in line with global trends as well as assisting in making UKZN the premier University of African Scholarship.
4.Projects / Tasks:
Participates as team member or leader in the various projects undertaken by ICS and makes recommendations to the Project Team. Conduct regular User surveys, evaluates and addresses both positive and negative feedback. Conducts student card checks, in conjunction with RMS, for legitimacy and ensure that penalties are outlined for failing to follow the rules and regulations governing the Student Lab environment and that any misdemeanours are timeously recorded on the offences database
Minimum requirements
· Matric and
· ICDL or equivalent
· Recognized 1 year relevant internship or 2 years relevant working experience
