Job description

  •  The University is seeking a competent and proactive individual to coordinate all in-house and outsourced projects within the Plumbing and Civils Section of the Maintenance Department.
  • The successful candidate will provide vital administrative and financial support to the Maintenance Manager and act as the primary liaison between clients and contractors.
  • The role also involves offering expert advice on plumbing and civil works, including project costing, contract administration, technical risk assessment, and project management.
  • A strong focus will be placed on safety, quality, and leadership, particularly in guiding subordinates. In addition, the incumbent will play a key role in managing energy, utility, and environmental performance to ensure operations remain within budget and contribute to reducing the campus’s carbon footprint.

Minimum requirements

  • Matric
  • N4 (2-year Diploma) and bylaw license in plumbing, drainage and water works
  • Trade Tested Plumbing Artisan with Municipal Card
  • 5 years post-qualification experience in plumbing / Civils, of which 2 years should be at a Supervisory/Management level
  • Valid South African Driver’s License.

Knowledge of:

  • Local Municipality bylaws
  • OHASA
  • Plumbing and Drainage / Civils experience
  • Able to read As Built Drawings
Advantages:
