The successful candidate will form part of the Sustainable Transportation Research group. You will be part of a team working on innovative research to address our society's current engineering challenges. S/he will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses (transportation-related), develop independent research activities, secure funding, supervise research, undertake administrative duties, participate actively in the local and international transportation engineering community and contribute to the profession.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader Cluster: Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering and Land Surveying.
Minimum requirements
All applicants must have a BSc(Eng) (or equivalent) degree in Civil Engineering. In addition, the following criteria apply to each of the levels indicated below.
Senior Lecturer:
- A PhD in Pavement Engineering or
- A Master’s degree in relevant discipline and Professional Registration with ECSA.
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience at the tertiary level or relevant industry experience.
- Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals appropriate for the level.
- A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD level appropriate for the level or equivalent industry mentorship.
- Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants as a Principal Investigator or team member.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the ECSA, or eligible for such registration.
Lecturer:
- A PhD degree in Pavement Engineering; or:
- A Master's degree in Pavement Engineering with evidence of submission of PhD in the same area for examination.
- Current research activity as evidenced by a publication in quality scientific journals
- Experience in teaching in a relevant field at tertiary institutions or relevant industry experience.
- Evidence of presentations, at national or international conference.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the ECSA, or eligible for such registration
