The Discipline of Geological Sciences in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education’s New Generation of Academics’ Programme, has an exciting opportunity for eligible candidates to pursue a career as an academic and researcher. The successful candidate will be expected to register for a doctoral degree at UKZN and will be closely mentored to become an academic through a programme designed to assist with early career development.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Discipline of Geological Sciences.
Minimum requirements
· A BSc in Geology
· A Masters degree in Geochemistry, Igneous or Metamorphic Petrology, with a pass mark of at leas 70%
· South African Citizen
The successful applicant will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years from the date of assumption of duty.
A brief statement of motivation regarding the applicant’s aspiration to become an academic and a researcher must accompany the applications.
