Introduction

The incumbent will be required to promote positive mental health and facilitate the holistic development, and emotional well-being of the College of Health Sciences students, through the provision of assessment, individual and group counselling/therapy, wellness programmes, skills development, and referral services. The post is based at the respective Hospitals at the Decentralized Clinical Training Platform, viz, Pietermaritzburg.

Job description

Responsibilities:

To promote positive mental health and facilitate the holistic development, and emotional well-being of the College of Health Sciences students, through the provision of assessment, individual and group counselling/therapy, wellness programmes, skills development, and referral services.

The post is based at the respective Hospitals at the Decentralized Clinical Training Platform, viz, Pietermaritzburg.

Minimum requirements

Minimum requirements:

* Master’s degree in Psychology (Counselling, Clinical,Educational, Industrial) or Master’s degree in Social Work (with specialisation in Clinical Social Work)

* Current professional registration as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA or SACSSP.

* Two (2) years of post-registration, relevant experience as an independent practitioner.

* Knowledge of student learning, and development theories

* Services must be offered face to face at the respective DCTP site
