Introduction

The school has an active Information Studies specialization, with a vibrant postgraduate research programme.
Job description

  • The successful candidate should have academic training and research specialisation in Information Science/Studies or any information-related discipline.
  • He/she will be expected to make a significant contribution in teaching, supervision of postgraduate students, develop new research concentrations and contribute through regular publications in the field.
  • The ability to demonstrate multidisciplinarity in this field will also be essential. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to play an active role in the academic development of Information Studies, within the Discipline of Political Science and the School of Social Sciences, at large.  

Minimum requirements

  • PhD degree in Information Science/Studies or any information-related discipline.
  • Three (3) years working experience in either Teaching, Lecturing, Research or Industry (in the relevant field or discipline).
  • Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level
  • A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD level appropriate for the level
  • Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team
