Introduction
A Junior Programmer works with the improvement and development team to deliver solutions which enable UKZN’s IT strategy. The purpose of the role is to develop solutions for the assigned business units. The incumbent liaises with business units, analyzing system processes to relate them to solutions which improve workflow and processes. They are expected to develop, maintain and support new and existing solutions, test systems and support the roll-out of new developments and hand-over systems to users. They ensure data integrity and delivery of projects in time and within budget.
Job description
Development, Maintenance & Support
- Develop, maintain and enhance application systems
- Enforce input validations and data validations to assure data integrity
- Validate the accuracy and consistency of data stored in databases (ERP and peripheral systems)
- Manages Business Systems/Applications i.e. User requests, queries, faults and change control documentation
- Resolves Super Users queries and faults
- Assist Analyst Programmer, Principal Business/Systems Analyst & Business/Systems Analyst
- Ensure user adoption and facilitate the roll-out of technologies
Implementation and Testing
- Test and Implement, Improvement and Development Solutions
- Provide training to users and first line support on technologies rolled-out for user
- Provide technical support
Documentation
- Ensure solutions are documented and documentation is update
- Update and Maintain User Manuals and Documentation
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 (Senior certificate) and a relevant 3-year Information Technology qualification
- Two (2) years’ relevant working experience or a 1-year internship, in a busy and pressurised environment in a large organisation
- Technical Information Technology knowledge and experience in a development environment
- Project management skills
