Introduction
The Donor Relations Officer / Legacy and Endowment Officer will be responsible for driving and coordinating the UKZN Foundation's bequest and endowment fundraising efforts.
Job description
- This role focuses on building and nurturing relationships with alumni and other potential donors to secure long-term philanthropic support through bequests, endowments, and recurring donations
- The officer will develop and implement targeted campaigns aimed at alumni from various graduating
classes to encourage monthly contributions that can support students from their first year through to graduation - Key Responsibility Areas of the job include Bequest and Endowment Management; Alumni Engagement and Fundraising Campaigns; Donor Stewardship and Relationship Management; and Administration and Reporting
- The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive and empathetic approach to donor engagement, and a passion for advancing higher education through philanthropy
Minimum requirements
- A (3)three-year degree in Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, or a related field
- A minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising, legacy giving, or donor relations, preferably in the higher education or non-profit sector
Knowledge of:
- Proven track record of securing bequests, endowments, or major gifts
- Experience working with alumni and managing donor databases is an advantage
- Knowledge of South African philanthropic trends and estate planning processes is beneficial
