Job description
- The School of Health Sciences wishes to appoint an Academic who will contribute actively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning, research and community engagement.
- Candidates will also be required to perform administrative tasks.
Minimum requirements
General Minimum Requirements (for both posts)
- All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Therapy
- A PhD Degree in a relevant discipline
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech Language Therapist
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages (i.e. Excel and PowerPoint)
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a Speech Language Therapist.
For Appointment at Senior Lecturer
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field at the tertiary level
- A minimum of five (5) publications in peer-reviewed SAPSE-accredited journals
- A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Master’s and/or PhD levels, appropriate for the level
- Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team
For appointment at Associate Professor
- A minimum of eighteen (18) publications in peer-reviewed SAPSE-accredited journals
- A sustained track record of successful supervision of Masters and/or PhD students in the last five (5) years
- Evidence of curriculum development
- Evidence of sustained and successful attraction of research grants from external sources, participating in international research projects and collaborative initiatives
- Evidence of providing service in a leadership position/s (academic leader of discipline, programme coordinator/research unit)
The post will report to the Academic Leader for Speech Language Therapy.
