Introduction
Institutional Planning (IP) at UKZN reports to the Executive Director (IPG). The department focuses primarily on its statutory reporting to DHET in the areas of student, staff, and space as well as the provision of management information (MI) to support college and school operations, planning and decision-making processes at UKZN.
IP coordinates and undertakes holistic institutional planning in collaboration with academic and professional services sectors resulting in strategic plans such as the University’s Strategic plan and Enrolment plans.
Job description
The purpose of the post (job) is to support the monitoring and reporting systems by:
• Extracting, analysing, and reporting management information.
• Undertaking statistical analysis and preparing formal reports for Executive and Management.
• Undertaking Institutional Research in collaboration with other Researchers in UKZN.
• Supporting the institutional planning & monitoring processes.
• Conceptualising and implementing Institutional Intelligence in the University.
• Providing leadership in the areas of statutory reporting and data quality.
• Conceptualising and implementing appropriate systems in support of the functions of the Department.
Minimum requirements
• Matric plus relevant bachelor’s degree (maths, stats, information systems or other relevant majors) or equivalent qualification with a strong quantitative research component.
• At least 5 years’ experience in the provision of Management Information, Institutional Planning, and Institutional Research, in a busy and pressurised environment in a large organisation.
• Proven experience using analytical and statistical programs like SAS, SPSS, and Stata.
