This role focuses on building and nurturing relationships with alumni and other potential donors to secure long-term philanthropic support through bequests, endowments, and recurring donations. The officer will develop and implement targeted campaigns aimed at alumni from various graduating classes to encourage monthly contributions that can support students from their first year through to graduation.
Key Responsibility Areas of the job include Bequest and Endowment Management; Alumni Engagement and Fundraising Campaigns; Donor Stewardship and Relationship Management; and Administration and Reporting.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive and empathetic approach to donor engagement, and a passion for advancing higher education through philanthropy.
Minimum requirements
· A (3)three-year degree in Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, or a related field.
· A minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising, legacy giving, or donor relations, preferably in the higher education or non-profit sector
· Knowledge of:
Ø Proven track record of securing bequests, endowments, or major gifts.
Ø Experience working with alumni and managing donor databases is an advantage.
Ø Knowledge of South African philanthropic trends and estate planning processes is beneficial.
