The position is in the area of Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity. The incumbent will be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop independent research programmes, supervise research and undertake administration duties.
The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering.
Minimum requirements
All applicants must have a BSc (Eng) degree in Electronics or any other closely related and appropriate engineering field. In addition, the following will apply:
- A PhD in an appropriate area OR a Master’s degree in relevant discipline and Professional registration with ECSA
- Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant filed at tertiary level or relevant mentorship experience in an industrial or research environment
- Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in a quality scientific journal, appropriate for the level
- A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD level appropriate for the level
- Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or eligible for such registration.
